Stupid judgements!

This morning I watched a woman (who I know from years ago) dance around a room, and while I had a few initial thoughts I can't say out loud - I took an internal check of those thoughts. By the end of watching her video, I had entirely changed my mind, and it made me realise a couple of things!...

Our First Birthday

On the 24th February 2021, we had our first ever Wild Women event. Eight ladies and myself, at Koi in Cambridge, spent the evening talking and laughing our way through a delicious Indian meal.  So much has changed and since September last year we are now in eleven regions throughout New Zealand. Holey COW! I never imagined this! I really didn't! I can spit out the stats on how the groups have grown and they all look very positive. But really, it's been such a journey. A journey that continu...

How to create space in your life - Relationship Space: Part 4

Whether the relationship is work-based, familial, or romantic, relationships are integral to our lives. They are a part of our lives and making them a safe space to speak openly and honestly is essential. Often, there is a compromise in relationships, which works when both parties get what they want from the situation. However, what happens if we start doing things that we want to say no to, or the compromise becomes one-sided. What if we are the adult in the relationship and we need space from ...

How to create space in your Life - Digital Space: Part 3

We know that technology, for all its good and evil, is here to stay. We also know that staring at a screen all day and night can't be good for us. Technology ensures that we are connected now more than ever and that demand can create additional stress for being "on" or "available" all the time. Being connected to people via Facebook, Instagram, or some other medium can mean that we often forsake the actual relationship building (i.e. talking, taking cues, and body language) required to have the ...

How to create space in your life - Physical Space : Part 2

First things first, let's get out your journal and start writing. Our journal prompt here is "How would I like my space to feel, and what do I need to do to achieve that feeling". Funny as you start writing what things come up and out. Writing it out doesn't mean you will remove it all in one fell swoop, but it highlights areas that we can improve to help you reach a sense of flow, joy, or calmness. Whatever you want in that space. The physical space is one that we can associate quickly with the...

Creating Space in Your Life : Part 1

I know that I am still on a steep learning curve about this myself as I write this. I have found some strategies work better than others and have come up with some easy but effective strategies that we could all use to create more space in our lives. We all fill many spaces with things, people, and places that can overwhelm, frustrate, or minimise the life we wish we could have. I have learned about life that having a plan, a goal, or an outcome is vital to making steps towards the lives we wish...

The Quiet Feminist

There are many women who have bravely fought for our rights especially here in New Zealand for hundreds of years. Their voices were heard loud and clear, and many continued in their work as activists, so that we could have what we have today. Kate Sheppard campaigned for two decadaes for our right to vote and in 1893, we became the first country in the world to allow women to vote.  It's a right we still have today, and women hold the majority of the votes (vs men), even if they choose not ...

Our Past Events

We opened the doors at Where the Wild Women Are in January 2021. Based in Cambridge, initially I opened it to just local women, however it soon gained momentum, and we are about to launch our second group in the Bay of Plenty.  From the start, we booked women into fun events like paddle boarding and white water rafting during the warmer months, and as autumn passed and winter decided to show it's face we moved to more indoor activities like self defense class, pole dancing or dinner out to ...
